The US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Nisha Biswal, who arrived in Colombo yesterday, traveled to the North today.

Meeting the TNA yesterday including the Chief Minister of the Northern Province, C. V. Wigneswaran, the US official acknowledged the Tamil demand for an international investigation into the mass atrocities of 2009, reports the Uthayan.

Reaffirming the US' commitment to accountability and justice, Biswal stressed that the resolution to be tabled at the UN Human Rights Council next month would be much stronger than the last two, wrote the paper.
