Another Buddhist Temple being constructed without permission at Thaiyiddy, Jaffna

Another Buddhist temple has begun being built in Thaiyiddy, Jaffna despite the lack of permission from local authorities, as the Sri Lankan state continues to colonise the Tamil North-East.

Residents who have recently witnessed the construction of the building have been protesting against it, with reports that it is being constructed on private land that has been illegally acquired.

During a Jaffna District Coordination Committee meeting this week, residents raised objections over the latest construction, to which the committee responded that they had not permitted any development to take place.

The Committee deputy secretary informed the individuals present that they would inspect the area, however they reiterated that no such permissions were granted.

This is the second temple that is being illegally built in Thaiyiddy. Tamil residents have been protesting against the construction of the Tissa Buddhist Temple located in the same vicinity.
