Some 700 acres of land in Valikamam North, which has been under army occupation for over 25 years, was released to owners on Tuesday.

Lands from the High Security Zone were released to owners, including the remainder of army-held land in Valalai, completely freeing the village of army occupation.
In six districts alone, over 3000 families are waiting to return to their homes.
However the number of families currently able to resettle is reported to be low as the majority of returned land consists of agricultural plots.
A large army camp built on seized land in Palai Veemankamam South is also reported as being fully vacated.
