The bodies of three Tamil men shot dead by the Sri Lankan military on Friday who claimed the men were attempting to re-launch an armed struggle, were buried in Anuradhapura on Saturday, reports Daily Mirror.
According to the Sri Lankan paper, the relatives of the men identified the bodies at Anuradhapura hospital. The wife of one of the deceased who is currently imprisoned in Boosa, was escorted to the hospital for the identification.
A post mortem was reportedly carried out, before the burial. The results have not been published.
Earlier in the day, the BBC's correspondent to Sri Lanka, Charles Haviland, tweeted that civil society activists were questioning "why close family of alleged criminals are also imprisoned, [describing] these as hostages."
He added,
