Tamil child arrested by Sri Lankan navy for ‘illegal immigration’

The Sri Lankan navy announced that it had arrested a four year old child and a 28 year old man, claiming that the two had attempted to illegally enter the island from India.

The child was arrested alongside the man at Talaimannar earlier this week, despite the Sri Lankan navy admitting that the two are known to be previous residents of Kilinochchi.

They were taken to the Sri Lankan navy base at  Talaimannar before being handed over to the Sri Lankan police “for onward legal action” reports an official military website.

Despite the risks, our team on the ground remain committed to providing detailed and accurate reporting of developments in the Tamil homeland, across the island and around the world, as well as providing expert analysis and insight from the Tamil point of view
