Sri Lanka's intelligence chief resigns 

Sri Lanka's chief of national intelligence, Sisira Mendis resigned today just days after he told the parliamentary select committee investigating the Easter Sunday bombings that the attacks could have been prevented. 

Mendis was previously the DIG For the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the head of the Terrorism Investigation Division (TID). 

Following his testimony, the Sri Lankan president held an emergency cabinet meeting and prohibited any military, intelligence of police officers from testifying to the PSC, Adaderana reported.
