Sajith awarded title for ‘services to Buddha Sasana’

The deputy leader of the United National Party received an honorary title from the Sangha Council “in recognition of his service to the nation and the Buddha Sasana”.

Sri Lanka’s president and prime minister were present at the ceremony for Sajith Premadasa, which was led by the Chief Prelate of Malwatte Chapter.

Premadasa is currently the Cabinet Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs and is also the Member of Parliament for Hambantota District. He has previously been widely seen as a successor to current UNP leader and Sri Lankan prime minister ranil Wickremsinghe.

ColomboPage reported Wickremesinghe as addressing the even and stating “the honor would further strengthen the Minister's programs for the Buddhism and country”.
