A pipe bomb was found and safely defused at Sri Lanka’s main international airport earlier today.
Speaking to the Sunday Times on Easter Sunday, Airforce Spokesperson Gihan Seneviratne said,
“A PVC pipe which was six feet in length containing explosives was discovered.”
He further added that the devise was discovered by Air Force personnel on a routine patrol and was disposed after the airport was put on lockdown, reports the Daily Mail.
Sri Lanka was rocked by a series of bomb blasts earlier in the day that saw over 200 people killed.
The Ministry of Defence announced an island wide curfew immediately after the attacks, with social media temporarily banned.
