Mullaitivu fishermen’s protest enters 3rd day

A demonstration by fishermen in Mullaitivu has entered its third day, as they continue to protest illegal fishing by Sinhala fishermen.

TNA parliamentarians Sritharan and Mavai were at the protest site earlier today and met with the demonstrators.

Sri Lankan riot police had confronted the protestors earlier this week, as they tried to enter the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, accusing the Department of accepting bribes from Sinhala fishermen to allow them to fish in the region unlawfully.
