Indian Consulate in Jaffna organises cycle rally to mark Gandhi’s birthday

Mahatma Gandhi's birthday was marked by the Consulate General of India in Jaffna with a cycle rally through the town.

The rally, part of ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ celebrations, started at the Gandhi statue in Jaffna Town and went to Jaffna College.

It began with the participation of the Indian officials Jaffna and religious leaders.

The Consulate General of India in Jaffna tweeted that the aim of the rally was to “raise awareness about Gandhian ideals of sustainability & environmental consciousness”.

"Students of Jaffna College, which Gandhi visited in 1927, through song, dance and drama, regaled the audience with elements of Gandhi's life and philosophy, which finds relevance across time and place!" it added.
