100 die from Dengue fever in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health maintains that 100 people have died, from 88,31 reported cases of Dengue fever, across 2019 so far.

The number of reported deaths has almost doubled since last year, which had a reported death toll of 58. This equates to an increase of  36,712 cases

The majority of deaths were reported in Colombo but 44.8% of cases were reported in the western province.

In the districts of Kandy, Galle and Jaffna there were over 6,000 dengue cases in each district.
