US engages in joint military exercise with Sri Lankan navy in Trinco

US Naval Special Warfare Forces took part in a Joint Combined Exchange Training (JCET) exercise with the Sri Lankan military at a navy base in Trincomalee last month, as military relations between the two government continues to grow.

Officers from the US Naval Special Warfare Forces took part in the exercise alongside Sri Lankan troops from the   4th Fast Attack Flotilla (4FAF) and Special Boat Squadron (SBS).

The JCET is set to last four weeks and will end later this month.

“The programme is held annually as part of mutual understanding and agreements for the training and support requirements of both countries,” reported an official Sri Lankan navy website.

The exercise comes amid growing military relations between the Untied States and the Sri Lankan armed forces.
