Sri Lankan prime minister commissions Indian built navy ship

Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe commissioned a new Advanced Offshore Patrol Vessel (AOPV) for the Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday, a ship that was entirely Indian built.

The vessel is the second such boat which the Sri Lankan navy now possesses.

An elaborate ceremony was held in Colombo to mark the occasion, complete with Kandyan dancers.

A Buddhist monk was present at the occasion, alongside the Vice Chief of the Naval Staff (VCNS) of the Indian Navy.
