Sri Lankan admiral attends conference in Canada

A Sri Lankan admiral who oversaw naval operations during the armed conflict attended the ‘20th Asia-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference’, which was held in Canada last week.

Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne, Sri Lanka’s Chief of Defence Staff, took part in the conference from the 4th to 6th September 2017, on the reported invitation of Admiral Harry B Harris, Commander of the US Pacific Command, and General Jonathan H Vance, Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada, according to a Sri Lankan military website.

The theme of the conference was 'Future Security Environment: Challenges, Complexity and Cooperation'. During the conference, the Sri Lankan admiral also held talks with his US and Japanese counterparts.
