Sri Lanka security forces demand land and money to release civilian land in North

Sri Lanka’s security forces have demanded alternative land and financing for relocation in order for civilian land in the North to be released from occupation.

At a meeting about land release at Jaffna’s District Secretariat on Tuesday, commanders from the Sri Lankan army, navy, air force and police said without the alternative land and money, civilian land release would be impossible.

The meeting was led by the district’s government agent N Vethanayagam, with the participation of Tamil MPs including Vijayakala Maheswaran, M A Sumanthiran, Mavai Senathirajah, S Shritharan and E Saravanabhavan.
