Vigils were held today in Chemmani and Mirusuvil in Jaffna, in Uyilankulam in Mannar, and Mulankavil to mark the first day of Tamil genocide remembrance week in the North-East.

The commemorations were attended by Northern Provincial Council members, local government and civil society representatives and will take place across the North-East in the run up to May 18.
