Militarisation: army gives Jaffna students bicycles

Deepening the military's involvement in civilian activities, particularly within the school environment, the Sri Lankan army presented bicycles and funds to school children in Jaffna district today. 

Eleven students were given bicycles, whilst some students were given cash up to Rs. 20,000. 

The military's army commander deployed to Jaffna, Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi presided over the event.
