India Trade Minister reiterates commitment to bi-lateral trade agreement during Sri Lanka visit

India’s Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reiterated India’s commitment to the proposed Economic and Technology Co-operation Agreement (ETCA)  between the two countries, reports Colombo Page.
Ms Sitharaman was speaking at the end of a two day visit to Sri Lanka, where she discussed bilateral trade and investment issues with Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
During the visit an official dinner was hosted in honour of the Indian Minister by Ranil Wickremesinghe. Ms Sitharaman also held talks with Sri Lanka’s Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade of Sri Lanka Malik Samarawickrama.
The 2 day visit, comes ahead of a second round of negotiations on the ETCA between India and Sri Lanka which are set to take place in New Delhi on September 29-30.
